FERHAT BOUDA
The Chronicles of Azawad
BOULODROME AGROCANET > 8th - 26th MAY
“DESERT” THEME

After the fall of Gaddafi, the heavily armed Tuareg militia landed in Mali with the intention to reconquer Azawad, the land that they (the Tuaregs) have claimed since 1963. It is an area of transhumance which spans five countries.
Ferhat Bouda, an Algerian photographer living in Frankfurt emphasises that he became a photographer to document all aspects of Berber culture. It led him at the start of 2012 to share the everyday life of the soldiers from the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA). He brought back rare images of this conflict which henceforth affected France bound to the Malian state.
