LIVE MUSIC - OPENING
MAUDITE TARAF

  In partnership with Thau Festival
Wednesday May 4rd - from 20h to 22H - Free

Something new will kick off the long weekend this year in a festive way, we have invited the Festival of World Music, that for many years has delighted the banks of the Thau Lagoon in July, to suggest a group of its choice. ‘Maudite Taraf’ is the first group to inaugurate this Wednesday get-together.

Created in 2005 by Jonathan Da Costa Ferreira (Rose Betty Klub, Bal’o Gadjo), Maudite Taraf now comprises Anna Venturini, Jean-Baptiste Morel (Divano Dromensa), Alexis Chauvelier (Hippocampus Jass Gang) and Gabriel Rigaud (BojaZZ, Rose Betty Klub, Habanico).

At first, Maudite Taraf played traditional Balkan music: they are very familiar with asymmetric rhythms, davuls, taksims and gypsy violins. As time went on an encounter with rock’n’roll was unavoidable in a true blend of these two cultures. Maudite Taraf applies this symbiosis to various contemporary styles to thus create an atmosphere, an offbeat realm unique to them.
